Love,
Marriage,
Romance
With this focus on marriage this week, culminating in Valentine’s Day with a focus on sweethearts and love, think about your marriage and your relationship with your spouse. Is there anything you can do special this week to make him feel special? To let her know how much you appreciate her?

While all this was going on, a woman got out of the passenger’s seat of the car, opened the trunk, removed a walker, and started slowly hobbling her way into the restaurant. The doctor ordered and the waitress came and went while this woman inch by inch made it to the table.

A “Sweetheart Steak” is a rib-eye steak specially cut to resemble a heart. There is a membrane running down the middle of it that separates the two steaks. It is a tender, beautiful cut of meat, and just fun enough to be a perfect main course for a Valentine’s Day dinner.

Gift Ideas,
Hallee's Galley,
Holiday fare
These treats were made for Kaylee’s 4th grade teachers and school administrators — so, 3 years ago. They weren’t designed to offer any kind of tutorial in how to do them, so I apologize for that, but they give you an idea of how easy it is to put together something personal, something special for those people in your life whom you want to gift with Valentines.

Hallee's Galley,
menus & menu planning
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of February 7th. As far as desserts go, I have several Valentine’s Bouquets to make this week, so we will be making quite a few batches of Traditional Sugar Cookies.
I am going into week 2 of a 16-week personal fitness challenge, which will include what I eat and when I eat it, and will involve me working out and running daily. I’m not going to do a lot about it here. My husband, Gregg, is starting up a blog about his personal journey with fitness and will leave all of that kind of blogging to him. There will be times that the kids eat something different from me (for instance, I don’t expect them to want tuna in their scrambled eggs). In those instances, I’ll have two meals listed – one for me and one for them.

menus & menu planning
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of January 31st. As far as desserts go, we’re going to mail Gregg’s Valentine’s Day box, so I need to make some pink sugar cookies. I’m also going to send him some homemade granola bars, and I think I’m going to make the kids some Decadent Cookies & Cream Cupcakes.
I am personally focusing on a four-month personal fitness challenge, which will include what I eat and when I eat it, and will involve me working out and running daily. Today we celebrate love. Or, at least, Hallmark and supermarkets and florists all over the world hope we’re celebrating it. Wives who have the Love Language of receiving gifts hope their husbands are celebrating it.

Hallee's Galley,
menus & menu planning
Here’s the menu for my family for the week of Monday, February 8, 2010. As far as desserts go, we’re going to be celebrating the Boy Scouts Anniversary and will be making Smores Cub-Cakes, and I hope to get some truffles made for Valentine’s Day. I also have to make 20 checkerboard cakes for our church Valentine’s Day Banquet, and 5 chocolate cakes for Wednesday night dinner.

Hallee's Galley,
kitchen & cooking tips
I thought I’d do the next Essentials series with bakeware, but as I went to collect it all to take pictures, I realized just how much I had. So, I’m breaking it down into types: Cookies, Cakes, Pies, and Desserts. I’m afraid that this post is going to be a little long. Making cakes, decorating cakes, playing with different cake recipes — that is a passion of mine. I have been collecting cake related paraphenalia for two decades, and have an extensive collection.
