You Just Can’t Plan Some Things

Posted by Hallee on Apr 14, 2011 in Family, Life, Parenting

I used cloth diapers, but training pants and vinyl covers didn’t work well. They always leaked, especially if Jeb was in his car seat or seated in a stroller. So, I went from cloth diapers to disposable pull ups. I only used them when we went out and at night. Most of the rest of the time, I just let him be at home naked.

Daddy Loves Mommy

Posted by Hallee on Mar 15, 2011 in Life, Love, Marriage, Romance

Last year, Gregg had a mother’s ring made for me. It has the birthstones of our three children, his birthstone, and mine. I love this ring. I wear it on my right middle finger.

Menu Monday 14 MAR 2011

Posted by Hallee on Mar 14, 2011 in Daniel Fast, diet & fasting, Hallee's Galley, menus & menu planning

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of March 14th. This is an unusual week for me. Our church is taking part in a call to 40 days of fasting and prayer. I’ve decided to do a Daniel Fast throughout the 40-days, and that begins on Wednesday. Gregg’s food options in Afghanistan aren’t great, so he will maintain his weekly day of a full fast. Kaylee is going to be fasting from refined sugar. Scott and Johnathan will not be fasting.

On top of that, I have a Kentucky Romance Writers Workshop this weekend that will involve eating dinner out three times, and the children eating elsewhere.

Big Boy Beds

Posted by Hallee on Mar 1, 2011 in Housekeeping, Life

The list is as long as my arm, but on the top was putting beds together. I wanted to get Kaylee into a full bed (her feet have started hanging over the end of her twin bed), and move the boys from toddler beds into twin beds. My dad spent Saturday morning putting beds together, then we spent Saturday afternoon trying desperately to figure out how to get them to fit in the bedroom.

Fish Wunch

Posted by Hallee on Dec 21, 2010 in Parenting, Raising boys

At my parents’ house this weekend, Scott and Johnathan were watching a nature program with my dad. My mom, in another room, said to my dad, “I don’t want them seeing anything that is too disturbing.”

I could see the television over the back of the couch from where I sat in the dining room and knew it was a nature program, but didn’t really pay attention to what they were watching. I said, “They aren’t seeing anything we didn’t watch with dad as kids.”

What I Did with a Day & Night Off

Posted by Hallee on Dec 11, 2010 in Life

A friend insisted on taking my boys to her house Friday night. I came home from the soup kitchen and they were gone -my house was empty.

A New Experience

Posted by Hallee on Aug 24, 2010 in homeschooling, Life, Parenting

Our church has an awesome preschool through elementary school. I checked into it to know what my options were and discovered that they have a part time program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. But the more we looked at that option, the less we liked it. I home school preschool, and we have invested a lot of time, prayer, and money into building our preschool curriculum. Consequently, I didn’t want them in a preschool environment two days a week on top of what we were doing at home. That would seem counter-productive.

Worth It All

Posted by Hallee on May 25, 2010 in Christian Faith, Family, Parenting

I don’t know what time Johnathan was born. Before 9AM, I think. He was 6lbs, 7oz, and 19 inches long. Those extra 6 weeks he got beefed him up compared to his brother’s 3-pounder birth. Like with Scott, I was too sick to see him after his birth, and he went straight to the NICU. When Gregg brought me pictures, I joked that his nickname didn’t need to be Jeb, it needed to be Biff, because he looked like a little football player.
