Menu Monday 17 May 2010

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of May 17th. This is something different this week. While working on the Power of a Praying Wife last week, I was convicted that I need to work on my physical health and fitness. I eat extremely healthy meals, but I have a problem with portion control. Couple that with my love of all things cake and my lack of focused exercise this winter, I gained too much weight.

Menu Monday 10 May 2010

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of May 10th. As far as desserts go, Scott has been asking for some brownies, and since I need to send my husband a care package, I’ll make a double batch. After the Easy Cheesy Chili Empanaditas I made last week, I’ve been hungry for some turnovers, so we’re going to make some apple turnovers, too. I’ll post that recipe when I get them made.

I’m catering a lunch on Saturday this week that I’m really excited about. The church where I used to attend has put together a team of cosmetologist volunteers who will be doing hair, makeup, and nails for underprivileged high school girls for prom night. They asked me to cater lunch for the volunteers and the girls. I haven’t put a menu together yet, but I will be posting the menu and the recipes when I get it together.

Menu Monday 03 May 2010 – Mother’s Day Week, Amigos!

Here’s the menu for my family for the week of Monday, May 3rd. This week is Cinco de Mayo AND Mother’s Day! So, this is going to be a fun week for cooking. I love making menus for special occasions. I will be spending Mother’s Day weekend at my parents’ so I won’t have control over the menu there, but I do plan on bringing my mom a cheesecake (I haven’t decided what kind yet, so you may be getting an new cheesecake recipe headed your way soon!). For Cinco de Mayo, I’m going to make a Tres Leches cake . On top of that, I received an email from my husband asking for “cookies, lots of cookies.” Apparently, homemade cookies are a big hit at his office, and everyone waits around for him to get a new box from home.

Whole Wheat Bread Bowls

A friend of mine posted a Facebook status about homemade potato soup that she put in Panera bread bowls, and I made the comment that they wouldn’t be hard to make. A few days later, she flagged me on the Hallee the Homemaker fanpage and asked if I’d made bread bowls yet. So, here they are.
