Just Feed One

I am so busy this week. It’s non-stop, every single day and night, culminating in Kaylee’s Sweet 16 Birthday Party Friday night.

My to-do list would scare the sane. I have two cookbooks coming out in the next two months, a fiction book that has “something” not quite right plot-wise and is going to require just a gutting and story-boarding, party planning/food prep/cleaning, learning how to make cake-pops, meetings, volunteerism, and life.

Inspiring & Uplifting

I know if my books touch just one life and bring just one person closer to God, then that may have been His purpose for me. But, I get notes, reviews, and emails almost daily from people all over the world telling me how much the books affected them on a personal, emotional, or spiritual level. You have no idea how much those notes, reviews, and emails inspire and uplift me.

In This Scary Economy

While the cost of everything seems to be going up, rapidly, I can tell you that my husband’s pay hasn’t gone up in the last year. NOT that I’m complaining. I’m SO thankful has has a job, locally, and isn’t having to work 8,000 miles away anymore. But, health insurance costs doubled (why is everyone so surprised that happened?), and his paycheck doesn’t stretch like it used to.

So, what are we doing to adjust to the higher costs of goods but the same pay? Here are just a few ideas:

If you want this template to use, leave a comment here asking me to email it to you. When you leave a comment, if you input it correctly in the form, I’ll have your email address. Don’t ask on the Facebook page or in an email to me — if we do it all here in the comments, then I’ll be able to keep up with who got it and who didn’t.

Jesus, Yeshua, God With Us

During the Christmas season, in many households and many communities, the focus is on Jesus — specifically on baby Jesus. While it’s exciting to think about God the Son becoming flesh and dwelling with us, we often focus so much on the infant child and forget the absolute magnitude of Jesus – Yeshua – God With Us. He is almighty and all powerful, and He IS the common thread sewn throughout the Bible.

Our church’s Christmas production focused on the power of the name of Jesus, and the following is pulled from that production. This is one of those that should be printed out and saved – a reminder of the glory of God and the Eternal presence of our Christ.

A Testimony & Carbon Monoxide

There was no reason for me to smell gas – ten minutes after calling the company, there was absolutely no natural gas in the air. I believe, since you can’t smell carbon monoxide, that God was warning me about the dangerous levels in a way that would get my attention. Smell gas, call the gas company, someone arrives with a meter to read the air. Attention got, message received, thank You, God.

Sometimes Discount is the Same

The other day, Kroger had butter on sale for $2.29 per pound. Gregg called me and said that the Aldi in Lexington had butter for $1.89 per pound as a regular, non-sale price. Aldi is a super discount grocery store. I told Gregg I didn’t necessarily know about getting butter from there. He stopped and bought one pound just for me to check it out.

I’m Angry

Our church, like churches for a couple millenia, has gone through a split. Someone got angry about something – felt offended by something, people started talking, stirring up strife, and before you knew it, 60 families left the church. It happens. We’re human. We get offended — and we offend. It’s just one of those quirky things about a societal way of life.
