That said, the other night, my husband and I watched Safe Haven. I didn’t recognize the lead guy (Josh Duhamel), so when I saw him, I was kind of surprised. He looks EXACTLY like my character in Burn (an unpublished novel), Ian MacDermott. EXACTLY. The entire movie, I couldn’t get over how much he talked like him, moved like him, looked like him — it was almost eerie.
This is the first picture I ever posted of my Kaylee on this blog.
I’ve been blogging for over four years now, and it’s AMAZING the difference four years makes in the life of a child. From 12-16, there’s a transformation from little girl to young lady and such a gradual way that you have no idea that it’s happening. And yet, we go from this:
To this:
In less than 1600 days.
It’s awful to think that there are teenagers today who were too young to remember 9/11/01, and yet we’re STILL at war.
God help this generation growing up where war has been their entire life, and yet where this nation is so apathetic about it that no one who isn’t directly affected even remembers it.
7000 troops dead, over 32,000 wounded, and the cost of war on soldiers and families that impacts homes in ways we can’t even comprehend. How about we “remember” this date by remembering we’re at war and then demanding an end to it?

We’ve told her that this is her home, that we don’t expect anything from her in return, and that they are part of our family now. She came here Wednesday night – which is the first time we met. There are a few things that require some prayer about it:
Book 2 in my Parody Cookbook Series, The Walking Bread; The Bread Will Rise! is now available! It will be available in ebook form ONLY on Amazon for the time being. You can get it at this link. It will be available in paperback everywhere.
While confronting and redeeming a recent popular secular phenomenon, Hallee Bridgeman, A.K.A. “Hallee the Homemaker” finds every grain of truth in her second whole food, real food cookbook with in-depth analysis and amazing recipes of yeast breads, quick breads, sourdoughs, and breads using grains other than wheat. The Walking Bread is a cookbook wrapped in a parody surrounded by a comedy with a tongue firmly inserted into a cheek — but the recipes are “dead serious” and may leave readers searching for all the tasty bread crumbs.

Pin ItMy initial first thought was, “Doesn’t she have a mother?”
Followed immediately by, “She’s been in school for 7 hours, and her butt cheek is still hanging out of her shorts?”
So, clearly, there’s a lack of adult guidance happening with this young woman, and many just like her. So, I’m going to step up and be the adult in your life. Here’s my public service message to you:
