ABC’s & 123’s Hallee the Homemaker Way
Shopping one day, Scott brought to me a can of kids’ pasta in ABC and 123 shapes. This was an organic version of Chef Boyardee’s famous product, but the ingredient list was as long as my arm and it cost $3. So, I told him, “No.” He put the can back then pointed my attention to pasta made in the same shapes.
And then he said, and I am not exaggerating, “Oh please, Mama. Oh PLEASE.”
I mean, how can a Mama resist?
I made a batch of Turkey Sausage Spaghetti Sauce.
Boiled up the pasta.
And mixed it all together.
I was a queen. The star. They danced around the kitchen and sang my praises. I’m telling you, if they had been taking nominations for Mother of the Year that day, my kids would have nominated me hands down. Even Kaylee felt like they were getting some big treat for dinner.
I guess sometimes it’s the little things in life. And I think that sometimes as parents, we get so caught up in our routines and schedules and the day-to-day, that we forget how easily children can feel loved and special with something so simple.

that truly makes me think of the time that my daughter roamed the grocery store at 8 years old and settled on a loaf of white wonder bread as her monthly ‘treat’ where she could have chosen anything … because, as she explained it – white bread is a treat in our house… I’m glad you were able to find a way to have happy, healthy kids :) That looks yummy :)
Congratulations on star-hood! And, you have a great point – sometimes it takes something small to make someone else feel big or important. You completely made their day :)
