I needed to read this today.
This is my first time to comment on here, but after reading this post, I have to. I know people that are just like this and it tears me apart inside. One of them is a very close family member and to hear her talk of her husband makes me so sad. They seem to take delight in irritating one another and it makes my heart hurt. That’s not marriage!
I wish that more people would open themselves up to the true view of marriage in God’s eyes. The world would certainly be a better place! And what a great place to start in reading your blog! I know I’m not perfect and I have miles to go, but just having you as a resource has already carried me so far. I’m knee-deep in “The Power of a Praying Wife” and feel so incredibly fortunate to have this as a go to!!!
Thank you for what you do, Hallee!
Thank you Hallee for this beautiful post!
Our husband’s love language is respect and my heart breaks when I hear a wife belittle her spouse. Tomorrow I am dedicating my blog post to my husband. He is the best!
Thanks for lifting up the Word of God!
Thank you Hallee, thank you so much for this post and for continuing to show glory to our Creator. People need to be constantly reminded of what Yeshua/Jesus has done for us. That we need to be His servants and try to display the same characteristics. If people could understand that every time we get upset or irritated, we are opening the door for the enemy to come in which could lead bitterness which leaves no room for our Saviour.
Have you read Captivating or Wild at Heart from John Eldredge? I read Captivating last month and it was a wonderful read. It has helped me see that yes even though our spouses may disappoint us because of our sinful nature, the only One who can truly help us is our Saviour.
Have a blessed Shabbat rest ~ Carmen
In a post I read last night, someone recommended looking at your husband as a child of God. I really liked that, because now and then, my husband isn’t my favorite person, but thinking of him this way will make me more tolerant and understanding, I’m sure.
Beautiful post, Hallee! A relationship with that lack of love and respect is so painful to see but even harder to live. It is a never ending circle and very hard to break the cycle. I am so glad that even though the only way the cycle for me ended in divorce, God gave me another chance (and man) to learn and know what a love/respect relationship is!! I am so thankful for that and so thankful for my wonderful husband!!
Blessings,
~Kerri
