sounds yummy! i look forward to the hot potato salad recipe. have you ever made your own turkey sausage? I made some breakfast ones yesterday and they were pretty good!
I have not yet made my own sausage. It’s on my list, though. When I got my new kitchenaide mixer, Gregg added a sausage stuffer to the order, so I’m excited about doing it!
Crockpot beef stroganoff sounds wonderful…can’t wait to see that recipe! BTW, thought of you last evening as I made my own whole wheat potato buns for turkey burgers. Don’t think I’ll be buying buns from the store anymore for our suppers. Thanks for the inspiration!
That is awesome! (And, you know I’m going to ask for the recipe! LOL)
I was not happy with the recipe. I made it up without referring to other recipes, and it wasn’t “bad” – it just wasn’t “wonderful” like I thought it would be. I need to rethink the recipe and check a couple out there to see what I didn’t do. I can make a mean beef stroganoff traditional way – and now I’m hungry for it and added it to this week’s men (ha!) but the crockpot is a whole different venue!
these were just patties. they worked pretty well. i find anytime im using sausage most of the time i take the casing off. and on one blog they had a recipe for homemade italian turkey sausage so i will eventually try that. once i find some ground turkey on sale…or hit another good sale on turkey/chicken breast and grind my own.
and i was going to ask for Di’s recipe too!
Hi Hallee! Your meals sound so delicious. I am definitely going to try the Egg-in-a-Hole and banana pancakes. Thanks for sharing!
Used the following recipe, but used whole wheat flour with just a bit of regular. SOOOO good!
Also interesting to know that this dough can double as a doughnut recipe….
1 c sugar (Hallee – I know you use honey, so I’m not quite sure what the ratios are on that)
1 c mashed potatoes (leftover would probably be best, but one med. potato is about a cup)
1/2 c lard or shortening (used part unsalted butter and part canola oil)
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 -2 packs yeast (I buy the jars of yeast so I used 1 Tbsp)
1 c warm water
approx. 5 c flour
Add yeast to warm water. Mix the first 5 ingredients together in a large bowl (used my kitchen aid with the paddle attachment). Add the yeast/water to the mixture and 3 c. of the flour and mix (used dough hook for this) adding flour until the mixture comes away from the sides of the pan. Dough should still be slightly sticky. Let rise covered in an oiled bowl for about an hour (double size). Roll out to 3/4″ thick and cut w/2″ cookie/biscuit cutter. Let rest for about 30 mins. covered on sheet pans – make sure buns are not touching each other. Bake 375 for 8-10 mins. Makes about 24 buns.
I enjoy a good bowl of chili anytime.
Your menu sounds delicious!
Your Wednesday and Friday breakfasts are two of my favorites! I tried the Oatmeal Blender Waffles last week at your recommendation. They were really good. In fact, they were probably the best waffles I’ve made so far! I love egg-in-a-hole, especially on a weekday morning, because they feel so special but are so easy to make!
Thanks!
