Welcome to March! As we enter into this month with a lion’s roar (and as I type this, a cold wind is blowing snow across my front lawn) and hopefully end it with a mew of a gentle lamb (mmm – Easter dinner), we’ll take some time during the changing of the seasons to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There is, of course, more St. Patrick details coming in our near future, but for the purpose of the giveaway, let me quote to you from my St. Patrick’s Day future post:
To those who celebrate its intended meaning, Saint Patrick’s Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide. Of the many symbols we associate with this holiday, most notable is likely the Shamrock, which happens to be the National Flower of Ireland. Saint Patrick used the three leaves of the Shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to pagans and unbelievers.
So, in the spirit of St. Patrick, a Welsh slave who escaped captivity in Ireland only to return to the land of his captivity and preach the Gospel, this month’s giveaway will be what we’re calling a “Miss-Away” – a donation to your favorite mission. It can be your local church, a missionary group, a youth camp, an orphanage, your town’s soup kitchen — you choose and we will donate $50.00 and then showcase your favorite mission on Monday, March 8th.
There are 6 ways to enter:
- Leave a comment below and tell us what your favorite mission is and why. If it’s possible, leave a link so that we can get to know them, too.
- Say a prayer for your mission, or another one on this list, and leave a comment saying that you did (or leave your prayer! I’m sure someone can get a blessing from that!)
- Subscribe to my RSS feed — leave a comment telling me that you have or that you’re already subscribed.
- Subscribe to my email updates — leave a comment telling me that you have or that you’re already subscribed.
- Follow my Tweets on Twitter and leave a comment saying that you now tweet– or leave a comment saying that you already tweet me.
- Become a Google friend and leave a comment saying that we’re friends — or leave a comment saying that you and I are already friends.
PLEASE leave a comment for each separate entry. I’d hate to not count one that should have been counted.
I would really love it if you became a Fan of Hallee the Homemaker on Facebook, but because of their new rules I am not allowed to use that as a contest entry.
God bless you and I really look forward to learning about your favorite missions!

HAHA – I fixed it -thank you!
Favorite Mission is Helping Hearts Helping Hands http://www.helpingheartshelpinghands.org/
It is a mission founded by a young girl to establish a orphanage in Honduras.
I prayed twice for Helping Hearts Helping Hands as it is the only charity listed so far. I prayed that the founder (a seventeen year old girl) will be successful in her next fund raiser such that she can make the final payments on the orphanage. I also prayed that the children will have adequate housing materials.

I have my own mission organization called, “Helping Hearts Helping Hands”. I am raising money to build an orphanage in Honduras. I’ve had this vision and started my organization in 2007, when I was 14 years old. I am now 17 years old and it looks like my orphanage will be opening very soon! I thank God every day for blessing my mission and for all the wonderful supporters we have. If we could win the $50, it would go directly to my orphanage funding, and I would be thrilled!
God Bless all,
Erica

I pray that God will bless my mission and soon to be orphanage! That He will help us to have a successful fundraiser on March 13th! May He bless each and every one of our supporters and all of those we are helping!
Amen.

Honestly, my favorite is Child Evangelism Fellowship, but more specifically my friend Nadine House who is currently in training to be a missionary to Taiwan or China. She is working so very hard to follow her calling.
My favorite charity is Helping Hearts Helping Hands. I am Erica’s mom, and am thankful for the path she has helped our family to follow…..doing mission work in Honduras. Her entire life is now devoted to helping the poor, sick, and starving children in this third world country. She will be moving to Honduras on March 30th and will start accepting orphans into the home this spring. What a calling…..what an inspiration!
Your daughter is an amazing person. I’m so happy that I was led to do this giveaway so that I could learn about her.
I don’t know if the Right to Life is considered a mission, but it’s my favorite non profit besides my Church. I love the Arizona Right to Life. They help so many women through the crisis pregnancy centers they support, education, and lots of other stuff.

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

I would like to enter for one of my favorite missions, Amazon Relief. http://www.amazonrelief.org
This mission helps many families in Brazil.
God bless you,
Amy
May God bless and keep the people of the Amazon region in His hands today and make His face shine upon them granting them help, hope and eternal peace. Thank you, Mother Mary, for watching over all those in need around the world through the work of the beautiful Franciscans.
Amen.
The Z Foundation. Z was a boy from our church who died in a tragic accident on a zipline. He had a heart for mission work in Guatemala so the foundation was started in his honor. http://www.z-foundation.org/zstory.html
I am all of those things, but I only wanted to do one entry because I don’t know if my pet charity is in the “rules” because it is non-secular. My personal mission, since i was a teen has been helping Olive Crest (http://www.olivecrest.org/site/PageServer). They run a home for abused and neglected children here in Orange County that provides a safe house for children (primarily teens) that cannot be part of mainstream society at this time. The facility is designed to keep the people who hurt the children out and to keep the children in.
When I was in high school, I built (from the ground up, based solely on donation) a library for their Orange County facility. During the time I spent installing the shelves and catologing the books and setting up the reading areas, I learned so much about how the children live. It is such an amazing organization. When the children turn 18, they must move out, so Olive Crest provides them with the “basics” to live on their own. All the things we take for granted: sheets, towels, dishes, pots & pans. For many of these kids, it is their first time having their own “posessions” besides the clothes on their back.

It’s completely fine. I didn’t use the word “mission” as a strictly religious connotation. There is so much good in the world that is done without being done in the name of God that it would be just wrong to say otherwise. Please add entries for all of them – give your awesome home for children an equal chance to win.
My mission of choice at this time isn’t a mission in the traditional sense as in a forgeign country. But it is close to my heart at this time. It is Teen Challenge. More specifically Western Ky Teen Challenge. It is a drug rehab facility that is dedicated to changing the lives of men who have become dependant on drugs. It has become a personal objective of mine to let people know what an awesome place this is. Their focus is not just to get the person free from their addiction but to let them know, or reinforce what they already know, that God is their source. They focus on discipleship, commitment, and walking in obedience according to God’s word. They have a wonderful staff determined to help these individuals be everything God intended for them!
My favourite mission is the 180 Youth Centre. http://180yc.com/ It was a vision of our Associate pastor and with the aide of caring folk in our church, has become a reality. Teens in our area struggle so much with everyday life (single parent homes, abuse, bullying, to name a few) and this place offers them a safe haven, a place to just be kids and to interact with others who are going through the same things. A place where they can ask for and receive help, kindness and love. The staff have even had the opportunity to share Jesus with some of them. An after school program for homework help, is in the works as well.

Not only am I praying for the 180 Youth Centre but I am also praying for the Western Ky Teen Challenge.
Oh Lord, I just take this time to pray for the teens of our world. There are so many pressures and struggles each of them face. Please God be with each of these teens that take on the challenge of becoming drug free. Give them the courage and strength to face each day, knowing that you are with them to kick the habit. Wrap your arms around them Lord, when they feel lonely and down, and give them a peace to know that they are making the right decision. Allow them to use this transformation in their lives to pass it on to someone else in need. I pray for all of this in Jesus precious name, Amen!
