Nice post Hallee!
I am Presbyterian and in our church we give up something for Lent but do not fast from meat (although some in the church might choose to do that.) I am giving up sweets since I am such the sweet tooth. It’s going to be very hard for me but I guess that is the point.
Our church is similar in the fact that we do not observe lent by fasting or giving something up. I really enjoyed this post, and I’m looking forward to your recipe posts as well.
i do appreciate this post! My husband is Catholic (and our boys will be as well) and I am not. I often miss the fine line between christianity and Cahtholicism. Poor guy is always trying to explain things to me. This did help and we do give up meat.
Hallee,
Excellent description of Lent! I’m linking to you next time someone asks about what it is! Thanks for listing all that Scripture with “40″ – that is an especially good resource.

Thanks Hallee, this is awesome! I missed it somehow and just now saw it :)
My husband is basically a half-practicing Catholic. I’d say non-practicing, but he attends mass with us as a family weekly. He didn’t go to Ash Wednesday mass and asked me what was on my head when we came home. Lol, sigh. I’m hoping the Holy Spirit comes into his heart soon.
