Tip: Peeling Tomatoes

This is an easy way to peel tomatoes. (The same process can be used for peaches and other similarly skinned fruits.)

You need a pot of water boiling, a large bowl of ice water, and a bowl in which to put the peeled fruit.


Bring a large pot of water to boil. Plunge your tomatoes into the pot.


Don’t leave them in there longer than a minute. Pull them out and put them in the ice water. This will shock the heated skin and pull it away from the flesh.


The skin should peel right off.


Remember that the longer you keep it in the boiling water, the flesh underneath the skin is going to cook.
