Last night, we had a fried fish dinner. It was quite yummy, albeit not quite “healthy” in the whole grains/good fats arena. My family is good with that (ha!) and I try to indulge fried fish or fried chicken about once a month.

Even though baked is “healthier,” this dish is really, really good. I like to serve it with hush puppies, fried potatoes, and cole slaw.
Pin ItMUCH healthier than its name would suggest, these skillet fried potatoes are very tasty, too.
Pin ItI much prefer making my mayonnaise fresh at home. Obviously, it saves money, but the main advantage is in the taste. Home made is not loaded with chemicals and preservatives.
Pin ItMy daughter’s favorite cookie recipe. It was also a school assignment to find her favorite recipe so we win on both fronts.
Pin ItThis recipe makes a nice pocket you can stuff to make gyros, shwarmas, or fun PBJs for school functions.
Pin ItHere’s the menu plan for the week of 21 September 2009 for my family. Here’s the menu for this week for my family. As far as desserts go, I’m going to make an apple pie so that I can have pictures to go with the apple pie recipe that will be posted tonight. I’m also going to make some cookies to take camping. We’re supposed to go camping Friday night through Sunday, but that isn’t firm in concrete yet. If we don’t go, I’ll have to wing the menu for the end of the week.
